Case Study - Ben & Jerry's

 

THE CHALLENGE

According to a recent Personnel Today report, “Only half of companies in foodservice manufacturing have a DEI strategy in place, although more than 80% are talking about it.”

 

Throughout the years, Ben and Jerry’s has demonstrated its commitment to inclusion and sought our help with identifying biases within the life cycle of sourcing and selecting marketers. The company needed resources to mitigate these biases in order to continue fostering inclusion and equity.

THE SOLUTION

Reimagine Talent Co. designed, launched and administered an annual social impact marketing MBA fellowship program. The objective of that program was to foster leadership development, mentorship and connection for Black professionals.

We advised Ben & Jerry’s and helped them develop an internal learning platform to support hiring managers in the company. One of the main objectives of its creation was to help Ben & Jerry’s hiring personnel develop the necessary skills to integrate more inclusive and equitable strategies into their talent sourcing practices. Complete with process maps, toolkits, quickbooks and training, this comprehensive platform was designed to make impact at scale across the entire organization.

Finally, we facilitated a series of training programs for hiring managers offering best practices to talent sourcing and selection amid The Great Resignation. We also created a safe space for these hiring managers to pose questions and gain coaching to help them navigate real-life scenarios.

THE TRANSFORMATION

One of the most impactful outcomes of our work with Ben & Jerry’s is helping the organization create a sustainable system to attract, hire and retain a more racially representative employee-base.

As a result of our partnership, the hiring managers at Ben & Jerry’s now have the capacity to confidently approach and navigate recruitment while making DEI top-of-mind.

Our work also contributed to the launch of an official partnership between Ben & Jerry’s and a leading Historically Black College. Through that partnership, Ben & Jerry’s now has the opportunity to tap into and build a pipeline of talented socially conscious marketing professionals over time.
