Case Study - Big Brothers Big Sisters of New York City

THE CHALLENGE

BBBS NYC is a local agency within the nation's largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network. The youth-organization is comprised of passionate employees leading the work of social service in support of NYC youth's college & career success.

The agency sought out capacity in upskilling employees on the foundations of DEI and delivering tools to best integrate DEI actionable strategy into their day-to-day roles & responsibilities to best support youth outcomes.

THE SOLUTION

We led agency-wide efforts to upskill staff on foundations of DEI and how to embed DEI into roles across the agency with a focus on social service & admin office. Further, we served in an advisory capacity to the CEO and the broader executive team, guiding on core business functions including: Finance & Administration, Programs, Corporate Relations, and Fundraising.

In our second year of partnership, we worked alongside the CEO to establish a DEI council to help support the integration of DEI across the agency.

THE TRANSFORMATION

Our work laid the foundation in establishing BBBS NYC's DEI council to help support the integration of DEI across the agency. This group of leaders serve as ambassadors for workplace belonging and are trusted voices in strategic planning.

Within twelve months of our work with the agency, executives highlighted an increase in employee engagement and overall intentionality in ensuring DEI is the lens to which agency policies, programs, and practices are created in support of New York City's most underserved youth & their families.
